Good news: Enhancement of the EcoPerformance program
The unveiling of the Quebec’s Government Green Economy Plan was also an opportunity to announce the strengthening of several energy transition measures, including the EcoPerformance program.
We have learned that from January 1st, 2021, the eligibility criteria will be broadened (maximum PRI increased by 5 years) to consider the upcoming electrification measures.
Financial assistance for large industrial consumers will increase from $ 40 to $ 50 / tCO2 and up to $ 60 / tCO2 for participants who have undertaken an ISO 50001 process (energy management).
Two measures are also added to the prescriptive component:
- Replacement of heating systems using fossil fuels by a renewable energy heating system;
- Partial or total electrification of the heat generation system in greenhouses (heating) and reduction in the use of fossil fuels (oil and propane).
The percentage of eligible expenses will be increased to 75% for energy management projects and more complex energy analyzes. In addition, a minimum PRI eligibility of 1 year has also been added to the Major Industrial Projects component to achieve better efficiency.
Once again, good news and important incentives for Quebec companies wishing to take advantage of this era of change to make a green shift.
