ESCO: ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND RENEWABLE ENERGY
THE PROJECT
The Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca is built partly on the sea. A religious and cultural complex laid out over nine hectares that includes a prayer room, an ablution room, baths, a Koranic school (Madrasa), a library (Media library) and a museum/school of traditional arts (Academy). This complex was built between 1986 and 1993 on the seafront corniche. The Hassan II Mosque is one of the largest mosques in the world and has a 200 to 210m height minaret, which is, according to various articles produced, one of the highest minaret in the world.
The project consisted in reducing the electricity consumption of the market perimeter by +/- 40% (Actual 70%) and carrying out effective measures with a renewable energy orientation. We have, therefore, installed 32,000 light points on the complex and redone the exterior lighting with high tech LEDs. We also installed 840 solar pannels and a central technical management system (CTM) to monitor the electricity consumption.
THE RESULTS:
The implementation of all measures was completed in Juliy 2022:
Additional benefits:
.Improved Mosque Color rendering
.300kWc of solar electricity production (840 photovoltaic solar panels)
.Better access to recorded trend data on a longer storage period
.Maintenance of building assets for 8.3 years
